Depends on the usage. If you get something from the interactivity, be it just moving around the environment or more than that. There is a great example in Route C of Nier Automata (there are a few in this game actually) that tells the story explicitly by giving you control in these scenes.

Also scenes where you are walking slowly while injured are the new walk and talk.

So I think it's fair to say this franchise is dead.

I wonder what this means for Marvel games. They killed Marvel Heroes, now this. They still have those Square projects coming, but it looks like the brand is becoming toxic in video games.

Well I certainly wouldn't go nearly that far, but they have made some good films. Their hit rate is roughly 50%. But given the amount of effort they've put in and how much better Amazon seem to be doing it they should be doing better.

Anyway, finished it. Really good first half, second half was a total mess, then the final scene was great. It was well shot and well paced, worth a watch but easily the weakest of the three.

People in charge of this franchise never stop doing these films or marketing them like this. But hopefully the already filmed fourth one is better!

Yup, it should pass Metroid's entire series sales with a third game. Splatoon bigger than Metroid.

I think this also makes XB2 the most successful Xenoblade game so far, since neither X nor XBC hit a million sales? It has a big advantage coming out early in a console's lifespan in terms of potential future sales too, so it could eventually surpass Xenosaga 1 and become the best-selling Xeno-game ever.

Yup the highest selling is I believe Xenogears with 1.2 million. This should easily pass that, and likely end up around 2 million.

It's 200k behind in addition to having US/UM. Pokmon is doing the best it's done in a decade. I think the Switch iteration will really break out.

A few other points:

-In the time it took Odyssey to sell 9 million, 3D World sold 1.8. If Odyssey trends like 3D World, it will sell 27 million which is... Hilarious.
-Digital sales are up 87%.
-The Switch has 8 million selling first party titles in 10 months. Has any other system done this?

I dont think this is true, Im pretty sure I saw the CEO of Microsoft specifically say the Xbox division was profitable and growing?

I don't doubt it has been profitable. They could potentially stand to make substantially more if they spun off the business though. Or drastically improved their platform by buying a major publisher and their IPs. Of course, in the same statement he also said they were increasing first party investment so you know, relative terms.

both microsoft and ea are shifting their games businesses to subscription and service based models. you don't have success with that, particularly not the level of success to justify a $40-50B purchase, in a closed ecosystem that only does well in one territory, and even in that one territory will be running in third place not before long.

Seems unlikely since Alexander Brandon, the composer of Deus Ex among other games, is doing the music for Retro's next game. The source on this is some guy claiming to have spoken to David Wise personally so that's sketch. Of course it could just be an extra track or two for the Switch version of Tropical Freeze.
